Horse bedding questions

If your horse is used to wheat or rapeseed straw bedding and doesn’t eat its bedding currently, it is unlikely to eat Sundown Green or Sundown Yellow chopped straw bedding.
If you are switching from wood shavings, paper, or a pellet bedding (wood pellets or straw pellets) your horse may show some interest in eating Sundown Green or Sundown Yellow.

If you are switching from wood pellet bedding to straw pellet bedding, your horse is less likely to be interested in eating Sun-e-bed pellet bedding. However, if your horse is moving from wood shavings, paper, or chopped straw bedding, to Sun-e-bed straw pellet bedding they may be curious. You can lightly water the pellets to encourage them to fluff-up more quickly – after this your horse is less likely to be interested.

Straw is a natural forage and will be digested like any other fibre in the diet (like hay or chaff), so there is no need to be concerned if they initially eat a little of the bedding.

However, if they persist in eating the bedding and you don’t want them to, you may need to switch to something else.

Ensuring that you feed sufficient fibre in your horse’s diet will discourage them. Water should be freely available at all times.

There are 65 bags of Sun-e-bed on a pallet.

There are 30 bales of Sundown Green or Sundown Yellow on a pallet.

On average, one bag of Sun-e-bed will weigh 15kg.

Our Sundown Green and Sundown bedding bales are packed in a weatherproof covering but are not suitable for long term storage outside.

Sun-e-bed bags must also be kept under cover.

The wrapping for our horse bedding bales is made from LDPE (low density polyethylene) plastic and contains 30% recycled plastic. Sun-e-bed bags are also made from LDPE.

You can recycle the bags and bale wrapping where soft plastics are accepted. This includes many supermarkets and some local authority recycling centres.

Please do not recycle at home.

Poultry bedding questions

Egg-e-bed is suitable for all ages of poultry, from day-old to fully grown.

Egg-e-bed poultry bedding has a eucalyptus fragrance added at the baling stage. It gives a clean, fresh smell to the bedding and keeps the coop smelling better for longer.

Used Egg-e-bed poultry bedding makes a great addition to the compost heap and breaks down quickly into a high nitrogen fertiliser to use in the garden.

Cat litter questions

Kitt-e-litter does not have any added fragrance. It has a light natural wheat smell which is quite pleasant.

Used Kitt-e-litter can be added to your home compost but you must first remove any faeces.

Most council-collected green waste will not accept cat litter so if you cannot compost your used Kitt-e-litter at home, please bag it and dispose of in your general household waste.
