Extra energy can easily be added by increasing starch levels in the diet, the real challenge is to maintain a healthy rumen at high starch levels. NIS is a twice as effective as non-forage fibres such as Soya Hulls & SBP as quoted in article and will not reduce dry matter intake as chopped straw will.
Anyone feeding high levels of starch to finishing cattle should consider NIS as a digestible fibre to maintain rumen function.
